Mini Cooper Suv: Countryman

I have never! LOL. So they noticed that some people were unable to fit their families inside the mini, which is why BMW decided to design the new Mini Cooper Suv, Countryman? Hay! I’ve got respect for BMW but I ain’t impressed. Well, atleast not until I see the final product with my own naked eyes 😉

Anyway, this baby goes on sale in the U.S early next year. I will make a follow up regarding the price, etc. And ohw, before I forget – something that’s going to come with the package.

Mini Countryman To Be The First Production Car With Internet Streaming Radio?

BMW’s Mini brand is getting a little bigger soon, with the Countryman bringing a taller stance and some AWD to the party, but that won’t be the only exciting addition to the mix. The Countryman will be the first Mini to offer Mini Connected, an infotainment system of the likes of Sync or MyFord. This one naturally features iPhone/iPod integration and all that jazz, but most interesting is the so-called “web radio function” that will allow internet radio streams to be beamed right into the car. Stations must be selected from an “extensive” database, so it remains to be seen whether your favorite speed metal stream will be included, but more importantly Mini isn’t saying just how those bits and bytes will get to the car. Will a USB modem be required? Will Mini charge a monthly service fee? Maybe you’ll just need a really long Ethernet cable? We’ll find out when it gets a full unveiling at the Geneva Auto Show next month.

There you have it, now what’s your take on this one? I mean, we’ve already seen that other mini with an ugly rear which opens up like a hearse, LOL.

World’s Fastest Street-Legal SUV: Brabus GLK V12

World Debut at the DUBAI INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW
BRABUS GLK V12 = 322.3 km/h from 750 hp / 552 kW
The World’s Fastest Street-Legal SUV

With a top speed of 322.3 km/h (200.3 mph) the BRABUS GLK V12 has set a new speed record for street-legal SUVs on the Italian high-speed test track on October 19th, 2009. The exclusive special model, powered by a twelve-cylinder twin turbo engine with 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW, celebrates its world debut at the DUBAI INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW. BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, Internet http://www.brabus.com) builds this high-performance automobile based on the Mercedes GLK-Class. The BRABUS GLK V12 starts at 397,000 Euros MSRP.

The new BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 750 engine was implanted in the small engine bay of the GLK with meticulous precision. The engineers and technicians drew upon their experience and know-how gathered from the development and production of the special model BRABUS BULLIT, based on the latest Mercedes C-Class.

The displacement engine, lubricated exclusively with ARAL Synthetic motor oil, delivers 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW at 5,500 rpm and produces a peak torque of 1,350 Nm (995 lb-ft) at 2,100 rpm, limited in the car electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

To achieve this kind of performance, the engine – based on the latest Mercedes 600 twelve-cylinder engine – was completely re-engineered in the BRABUS engine department. Displacement is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters with the help of a special crankshaft, larger cylinder bore, special pistons and piston rods. In addition the three-valve heads are precision-machined and fitted with special camshafts.

For maximum power yield the BRABUS engineers have developed a special twin turbo system with two larger turbochargers and more efficient intercoolers. Free-flow metal catalysts and a fully stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system custom-tailored to the GLK body let the BRABUS SV12 R 750 Biturbo engine breathe more freely. SSC Ultinate Aero – The fastest Car in the world

The Fastest Car in the World

Shelby Super Cars (SSC) produces the world’s fastest road-going car, the 255 mph Ultimate Aero, but SSC isn’t going to cool its record-stetting heels. For 2009 SSC has decided to upgrade the the ultra-rare supercar’s twin-turbo V8 from 1183 hp to 1287. This kind of power also has SSC setting the bar for a new world record: 270 mph.

Besides the impressive output, the Ultimate Aero also gets a redesigned frontal area with enhanced aerodynamics, as well as carbon fiber louvers on the side intakes draw in 20 percent more air into the radiators. SSC is also introducing a system called AeroBrake, which will alter the angle of the rear spoiler during hard braking (similar the system is used on the Mercedes SLR).

Mercedes Benz SLS AMG

Watch this video below and just listen to how this mean engine roaaaaarrrrrrrrrrss! 🙂

SLS AMG. Two Wings. IS It Still A Car?

Reckon the video is a little bit exeggerated (the tunnel)?

Like the car? Then read all about this baby below 🙂

The Cadillac of Names

First of all, the remixed icon won’t be called the Gullwing or even the SLC as we had believed; its official name is Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. (That said, Mercedes does refer to the car as the “new Gullwing” in its press materials and also confirms the car will utilize the unique door configuration.) We’re wondering if Cadillac will object to the SLS moniker, but we doubt anyone will confuse this super-Benz with a full-size, four-door Caddy. This might be a good time to mention that we don’t yet know what the SLS will look like. Mercedes is holding back on releasing official exterior pictures of the car, but expect to see images surface early this summer. For now, information from Mercedes-Benz is limited to what’s under the SLS’s skin. Judging by the underlying structure, the car appears as if it will have proportions drawn directly from its 1950s forebear. Even the angles of the front and rear window openings look similar. The gullwing doors will pop off in the event of a rollover to allow occupants to escape. Read more of this post

ABT Volkswagen Golf 6 GTI

NO! FLIPPEN! WAY! I just had to show you this, damn!

One look at ABT’s new creation will tell you that it’s more than a ‘normal’ Golf GTI – and the sixth variation of the fast compact car with the large tailgate is steeped in the best tradition. The cars five predecessors also became powerful Golfs at ABT. ABT was, and still is, the place to go for everyone who wanted even more dynamic and driving fun from the very beginning. What better way to deliver these characteristics in a daily drive other than VW’s Golf 6 GTI. ABT and GTI have been a potent combination since 1976.

ABT have made impressive gains in engine output. Due to optimized engine management (ABT POWER), the standard 155 kW becomes an impressive 191 kW. ABT POWER S makes the GTI even hotter with the use of a new turbocharger. The 2,0-litre TSI then has an output of 221 kW and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in around six seconds. Thanks to ABT chassis springs, the GTI’s centre of gravity is lower by 30 mm, improving cornering ability. The chassis setting, which was designed by Christian Abt, is especially good fun on winding roads. What speed’s up must slow down and ABT have tweaked the braking system accordingly, making sure you’re always iin control.

Apart from the essential power and chassis enhancements, an ABT Golf GTI is not only a hot piece of sports equipment for the road, it also needs to looks like one. The bodywork package underlines the car’s pure dynamics: no matter how you look at the GTI, it is always impressive. Rear spoiler and rear apron superstructure, side mouldings, front grill and apron, as well as the diagonal 4-pipe exhaust system form one unit. ABT engineers also designed a new front lip with the front apron and the new ABT Daytime Running Lamp. The paintwork, in carbon steel grey metallic, co-ordinates well with the side mouldings and front lip, with its contrasting red. The design also continues consistently in the interior, with the various instrument surrounds, door trim and steering wheel panels painted in matching red.

2011 Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid Concept

Officially it’s only a concept, but there’s no doubt that project XG10 — or the 918 Spyder concept — will pave the way for the next Porsche supercar. And what a supercar it is going to be: in addition to the normally aspirated, high-revving, 3.4-liter V-8 good for more than 495 hp, the striking 918 Spyder has three electric motors onboard that add another 215 hp to the tally. Says Wolfgang Dürheimer, board member in charge of R&D: “This car can lap the Nürburgring faster than the Carrera GT. At the same time, it averages 78 mpg [on the EU driving cycle] when driven gently. Are we going to build it? We will definitely bring some blank sales contracts to the Geneva show, but it’s too early to talk pricing, production volumes, and timing.

“The strategic aim is to demonstrate that even a supercar can be environmentally friendly. XG10 promises total driving pleasure—and a clear conscience. This is a trendsetting and sustainable premium product that uses the issue of social acceptability to its advantage. And it reflects the legacy of Ferry Porsche, who was convinced that sports cars would never go out of fashion.”

XG10 stands for X1, Geneva 2010. X1 is the code name of the 918 Spyder, which is only one version of many. Potential variations include a 918 coupe, an electric 918, and a 918 RS/RSR. This car can be either two- or four-wheel drive, have plug-in electric or gasoline power, come with an open top or a fixed roof, and be either a racer or a street machine. Its genetic evolution dates back to the 1997 Porsche GT1, which was a Le Mans–winning 911 on steroids. That car triggered project LMP 2000 (Porsche’s exciting Le Mans comeback car), which was halted at the eleventh hour by then-chairman Wendelin Wiedeking, who was always more of a numbers man than a car guy. Lexus IS250C

I came across this baby just the other day. It was at night, parked with all those lights on. I couldn’t help but notice it. You can’t honestly tell me that it’s inconspicuous. And then I came across another one, a red one during broad daylight and I thought to myself, I have got to let you guys know a little bit more about it.

Making its world debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and on sale throughout Europe in the summer of 2009, the new IS 250C combines the award winning design of the IS sports sedan range with outstanding open-top engineering ingenuity.

Reflecting Lexus’ legendary quality and attention to detail in every aspect of its construction, the new IS 250C convertible has been designed to exceed customer ownership expectations in every respect. Representing a unique fusion of top-down driving pleasure and uncompromised dynamic performance, its lightweight folding aluminium roof structure boasts the world’s fastest three-part roof opening time of just 20 seconds.

Sharing the IS 250’s 153kW, 2.5-litre ultra-smooth V6 powerplant and 6-speed automatic transmission, the new Lexus convertible has been styled to offer minimal wind turbulence when driving with the hard top stowed. Extensive revisions to body structure and suspension equip the IS 250C with the torsional stiffness necessary to promote ride comfort appropriate to the brand and, in coupe guise, the reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics on a par with those of the IS sedan.

Thanks to the remarkably compact packaging of its three-part folding roof mechanism, the IS 250C offers a large boot space, generous rear seat access and spacious rear passenger accommodation. Read more of this post

2011 Lamborghini Gallardo

Lamborghinis have long stood for sheer, menacing speed, usually courtesy of a monster engine. It’s a solid formula, but any engineer will tell you that you eventually reach a point of diminishing returns. How, then, do you make an even more insane Lamborghini? Make it lighter. Lamborghini first applied the “lighter is better” approach to the compact Gallardo back in 2007, aptly naming the special model the Superleggera, or “super-light.” Extensive use of carbon-fiber and the deletion of such frivolities as a radio and cup holders knocked more than 200 pounds off of the curb weight, allowing the stripped-down, road-legal track car to hit 62 mph in 3.8 seconds. The lack of creature comforts didn’t scare away buyers — Lamborghini moved 618 Gallardo Superleggeras during its one-year production run. Built on the success of the original and with lessons learned in the new, one-make Lamborghini Super Trofeo racing series, Lamborghini is bringing back the Superleggera, and it’s lighter and wilder than ever. The speed freaks in Sant’Agata went over the Gallardo, now in a new generation known as the LP 560-4, with a fine-tooth comb and managed to shave 38 more pounds over the first Gallardo Superleggera, dropping the curb weight to just 2954 pounds and making it the lightest Lamborghini available.
